Chris Bullough is an Edmonton based actor, playwright, director, instructor, producer and creator of original independent theatre.
As an actor Chris has worked with many professional Theatre companies across Western Canada, including, the Citadel Theatre, Theatre Calgary, Globe Theatre, and Nakai Theatre in Whitehorse. Chris was a nominee for the 2010 Betty Mitchell Award “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” for his work in the Alberta Theatre Projects production of Abraham Lincoln Goes to the Theatre and is a recipient of the Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award for “Outstanding Performance of an Actor in a Leading Role” for the Free Will Shakespeare Festival productions of Love Labour’s Lost (2006), and Richard III (2008).
Chris’s plays for young audiences, Penelope vs. The Aliens!! (Co-written with Jared Matsunaga-Turnbull) and Apples and Oranges, have been produced by Citadel Theatre and Concrete Theatre in Edmonton and by Quest Theatre in Calgary.
At the 2010 Edmonton International Fringe Festival Chris made his directorial debut with Shimmer, for which he was awarded an Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award for “Outstanding Fringe Director”.
Chris received an MFA in Directing from the University of Alberta in 2016 where he directed and created (with Michael Peng and wishbone theatre) Or The Whale, an original adaptation of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.
